Five more die from starvation in Gaza as aid trucks remain blocked

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Monday that five more adults have died from starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of starvation-related deaths to 180, 93 of them are children, since the start of the Israeli-imposed famine.

This comes amid growing UN warnings of a worsening water crisis, with nearly 90% of Gaza’s population lacking access to safe drinking water.

Despite the dire humanitarian need, aid remains largely blocked. The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that 22,000 aid trucks are stuck at the border, while only 80 trucks entered the Strip on Sunday, many of them looted due to Israel’s policy of engineering chaos and starvation.

UNRWA media advisor Adnan Abu al-Hassna confirmed that 6,000 fully loaded aid trucks are ready for entry and could sustain Gaza’s population for three months, but Israel is only allowing 30 to 40 trucks in per day. He urged that at least 600 trucks must be allowed to enter daily and that UNRWA be given authority to manage distribution.

According to official figures, the total death toll from Israel’s ongoing US-backed genocide since October 7, 2023, has reached 60,839 martyred and 149,588 injured. Attacks targeting civilians waiting for aid have resulted in 1,487 deaths and over 10,578 injuries.
