For the third consecutive day: No internet or communication in central and southern Gaza

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip have been experiencing a complete blackout in landline and fixed internet services since Monday, amid ongoing Israeli aggression and refusal to allow technical teams from the Palestinian Telecommunications Company to access damaged sites and carry out necessary repairs.

This latest outage follows a brief restoration of services last Saturday, only to be disrupted again on Monday as airstrikes and massacres intensified, particularly targeting humanitarian aid distribution centers.

According to various sources, there have been confirmed reports of restrictions and outright denial of access to Palestinian telecom crews attempting to maintain and restore infrastructure. These attacks are part of a wider assault on Gaza’s telecommunications systems across the enclave.

The communications blackout is further exacerbating the rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where medical institutions and international organizations rely heavily on communication networks to coordinate aid and provide services to over two million people facing the threat of genocide.

The education sector has also been severely affected, especially online learning efforts aimed at maintaining minimal educational continuity for Gaza’s children amid war.

This latest episode of communication cuts highlights the severe challenges residents face in their daily lives—whether it be accessing medical help, humanitarian coordination, or simply staying informed—all of which deepen the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe as the aggression continues.

In response, civil and humanitarian organizations have called on the international community to act urgently to prevent further collapse of Gaza’s infrastructure and to ensure the restoration of vital telecommunications services to help the population cope with the current crisis.

On Tuesday, a source within the Palestinian Telecommunications Company confirmed that “Gaza’s telecom infrastructure is under relentless attack, losing much of its capacity and facing the threat of a total shutdown.”

The source added that the network is being hit daily, exhausting repair crews and putting them in constant danger. One technician in central Gaza suffered severe injuries, resulting in the amputation of his leg.

Since Israel’s assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, telecommunications and internet services have repeatedly been cut off across the Strip or in large swathes of it, either due to intensive bombing or the depletion of fuel needed to power generators.
