BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Senior Hamas official Ali Baraka has warned that the Israeli occupation regime, which is facing military setbacks against the Palestinian resistance, may shift to “soft power” tactics like political and media influence to achieve its objectives.
“The occupation’s failure on the ground is driving it to intensify political and propaganda pressures, particularly in the Western arena and through the United States, in an attempt to relieve or break its political isolation under conditions that serve its agenda,” Baraka said in social media remarks on Tuesday.
He explained that the Israeli regime aims to shift the confrontation from the battlefield to political, media, and diplomatic arenas, seeking to sway international and regional stances, tarnish the resistance’s image, and enforce its narrative regarding the Gaza war.
Baraka noted that positions voiced by Hamas leader Khaled Mishaal are part of targeted efforts to debunk the Israeli narrative on Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” and the genocidal war on Gaza and reach out to influential Western circles, saying the Movement seizes every viable opportunity to nudge the US administration into rethinking its position on the matter.
He stressed that Hamas’s positions are based on a “shrewd reading of power balances,” while holding firmly to its national principles and rejecting any settlements that undermine the Palestinian people’s rights.
