GAZA, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)
The Gaza City municipality has affirmed that the city has sustained extensive and unprecedented destruction during the ongoing genocidal war on the Strip.
According to spokesman for the municipality Hosni Mahna, approximately 85 percent of Gaza City’s infrastructure has been directly or indirectly damaged, describing the scene as the most widespread devastation in the city’s history.
Mahna explained that vital infrastructure sectors, including water and sanitation networks, roadways, public facilities, and key educational and economic institutions, have sustained extensive damage.
Mahna emphasized that Gaza now requires comprehensive reconstruction, starting with rebuilding its basic infrastructure and restoring public services.
He added that the daily bombardment of the Strip had resulted in over 70 million tons of rubble, an overwhelming mass that exceeds the municipalities’ capacity to handle, especially after the destruction of critical equipment and the ongoing blockade that prevents the entry of necessary machinery.
Currently, the Gaza municipality operates with only one bulldozer after 134 of its vehicles and machines were destroyed, he said, adding that the municipality is forced to rely on private sector equipment to carry out daily tasks.
