GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center ) 10 Palestinian citizens, including three children, died of starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip within the past 24 hours, according to a statement released by Gaza’s health ministry on Saturday morning.
One of the children was an infant named Rania Ghaben. Doctors reported that she died from malnutrition and the lack of adequate medical care.
The new victims have raised the total number of hunger-related deaths in the famished coastal territory to 332 people, including 124 children, the health ministry said.
Since March 2, the Israeli occupation army has been closing all the border crossings with Gaza, preventing the flow of humanitarian aid and vital needs. Although limited quantities of aid have recently been allowed in, they remain insufficient to meet the minimum basic needs of the population.
In a related context, UNRWA has urged the Israeli authorities to lift the ban preventing its humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis.
“We are ready to continue our work. Our warehouses in Egypt and Jordan are stocked, ready to fill around 6,000 trucks,” UNRWA said in social media remarks on Saturday.
“UNRWA has the system in place to distribute aid safely and at scale. Let us take in our life-saving supplies by road,” the refugee agency added.
