Gaza devastation: 282,000 residences destroyed, says UNRWA

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that over 282,000 homes in Gaza have been either destroyed or damaged during the ongoing Israeli campaign of mass destruction.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the UN agency said the information is based on data from the Global Shelter Cluster—a humanitarian coordination mechanism for shelter—jointly managed by UNHCR and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

According to the data, Israeli bombardment has either destroyed or damaged more than 282,000 housing units in Gaza, leaving countless people homeless.

UNRWA further said that tens of thousands of displaced Palestinian families have been forced to live in tents as winter approaches.

The agency also highlighted that many families are living in cramped spaces, suffering from a lack of privacy and limited access to basic services.

UNRWA and its partner organizations continue to deliver humanitarian assistance to displaced families despite the dire conditions.
