Nasser Hospital is the only operational medical facility in southern Gaza that still provides services for people from Khan Yunis and Rafah.

The health ministry has taken stringent measures to reduce fuel consumption at hospitals, according to its statement on Monday.

For his part, Ahmed al-Farra, head of the Nasser Hospital’s pediatric department, said there are intensive care patients who need oxygen around the clock, but the fuel crisis would affect the work of the hospital’s oxygen station at any moment.

Farra warned that the lives of patients with critical conditions and newborns in incubators area threatened if the hospital stopped providing them with oxygen.

“This oxygen station is considered a lifeline for all patients in southern Gaza after the European Hospital has gone out of service. The station also supports more than one hospital and serves patients at home,” Abdul-Qader Aliwi, the official in charge of the oxygen stations, said.

Aliwi called for necessarily providing Gaza with enough diesel supplies to operate oxygen stations and save lives of patients.
