The Gaza Ministry of Health has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations as the death toll from Israel’s ongoing military assault on the enclave has surpassed 65,000 since October 2023.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry confirmed that 65,344 Palestinians have been killed and 166,795 injured in Israeli attacks. It urged residents across Gaza to head to hospitals immediately to donate blood, particularly rare types such as O negative, warning that supplies in blood banks are critically low.
“Your donation today could be a lifeline for thousands of wounded and ill individuals teetering between life and death,” the statement read.
According to the ministry’s daily report, hospitals in Gaza received 61 bodies and 220 wounded patients in the past 24 hours alone. From March 18 until now, the ministry has documented 12,590 deaths and 53,884 injuries.
The ministry also reported that at least 2,523 Palestinians have been killed while waiting for food aid deliveries, with more than 18,496 injured. Twenty-three of those injuries occurred within the past day.
Officials noted that many victims remain trapped under rubble or on the streets as emergency and civil defense crews struggle to reach them amid continued bombardment and widespread destruction.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened sharply in recent months, with aid groups warning of famine, medical shortages, and the collapse of essential services. International organizations have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered access for humanitarian relief.
