Gaza receives zero aid in 2026 so far, warns MSF

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said on Monday that it has been unable to deliver any humanitarian aid or medical supplies into Gaza since the beginning of the year due to Israeli restrictions, despite the ceasefire that remains formally in place.

Christopher Lockyear, the MSF secretary general, said in press remarks that the “catastrophic” humanitarian situation continues across both Gaza and the West Bank.

“The humanitarian needs are enormous,” Lockyear said, adding that what is required is not a reduction in the humanitarian response but a significant expansion of it.

He noted that harsh winter conditions have worsened chronic health problems among Palestinians in Gaza.

He also warned of a rise in infectious diseases, as more than 18,000 people await medical evacuation, including 4,000 children. According to Lockyear, deteriorating shelter conditions during the winter season have further compounded the already critical health crisis throughout the enclave.

“Despite the ceasefire agreement, people are still being killed in Gaza,” he said. “The purpose of the agreement was to allow more humanitarian aid to enter.”

Israel began what Palestinian officials and rights groups describe as a genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, with US backing.

The assault lasted two years, leaving more than 72,000 Palestinians killed and over 171,000 wounded, most of them women and children, and destroying 90 percent of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure.

A ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025. However, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli occupation forces have committed hundreds of violations since then, including airstrikes and live fire incidents, resulting in more than 600 additional deaths and 1,607 injuries.

Despite the formal halt to the genocide, humanitarian conditions have not seen meaningful improvement.

Palestinian officials say Israeli authorities have failed to meet their commitments under the agreement, including ending military operations, reopening crossings, and allowing the agreed quantities of food, medical aid, relief supplies, tents and mobile homes into Gaza.
