Gaza’s Higher Council of Clans rejects airdropped aid, calls for opening of land crossings

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Higher Council of Clans in the Gaza Strip firmly rejected on Friday the mechanism of delivering humanitarian aid by air, demanding instead the immediate and organized opening of land crossings to ensure effective aid distribution to the besieged population.

In a strongly worded statement, the Council expressed “regret and astonishment” at what it described as a dangerous and ineffective method of airdropping aid under humanitarian pretenses that “do not reflect the reality on the ground.”

The Council warned that airdropped aid poses serious risks to civilians, recalling previous incidents in which aid packages caused deaths and injuries after falling on people or landing in hazardous areas.

“We say clearly: we have had enough of bombs and explosives raining down on us from the sky — we do not need more tampering with the lives of our people through media spectacles disguised as humanitarian aid,” the statement read.

The Council emphasized that the airdrop method fails to meet even the most basic needs of Gaza’s population and serves more as a propaganda tool for some governments rather than a real humanitarian solution.

It called on the international community, including the United Nations and humanitarian organizations, to uphold the dignity of the Palestinian people by urgently working to open land crossings and facilitating the safe, systematic, and comprehensive delivery of aid, away from media dramatization and reckless improvisation.

Holding Israel and all complicit parties fully responsible for the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, the Council stressed that the aid that has entered Gaza in recent days is “not even a drop in the ocean” of what is needed and has “not stopped the rising toll of martyrs”, many of whom die each day from hunger.

“Our people are not a testing ground or an air show,” the Council concluded. “We are a dignified people who deserve a dignified life, a people whose sacrifices demand respect”.
