GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Senior Hamas official Basem Naim has affirmed that the formation of a Palestinian transitional committee to manage Gaza’s affairs represents an important step towards fully implementing the ceasefire agreement and addressing the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
In remarks on Thursday to A-Araby TV, Naim said that this committee should serve as a starting point for a comprehensive inter-Palestinian political process, beginning with achieving the national unity.
Naim called for supporting this path which he called a “national duty” during the current critical stage, calling for pooling efforts to confront the Israeli schemes.
“Hamas welcomed the formation of this national transitional committee and declared its readiness to hand over the administration of Gaza to it and facilitate its mission,” the Hamas official said.
He added that “the ball is now in the court of the mediators, the US guarantor, and the international community” to help the committee carry out its tasks and counter Netanyahu’s plans.
He wished the committee’s chairman and members all success in their difficult mission, stressing the need to support them in their efforts to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s residents.
