GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Government Media Office (GMO) has said that 33,751 Palestinian citizens were either martyred or reported missing and 65,636 others were injured during 2,269 massacres, which have been committed by the Israeli occupation army since its genocidal war on the Gaza strip started in October 7, 2023.
26,751 martyrs of those victims were transported to hospitals. Among the martyrs are 11,500 children, 8,000 women, 339 medical workers, 46 civil defense workers and 122 journalists, according to a report released by the Media Office on Wednesday, January 1.
GMO also said that there are 7,000 missing people — either they are under the rubble or whose fate are unknown.
GMO pointed out that 70 percent of the martyrs and the wounded are women and children.
GMO appealed for saving the lives of 11,000 wounded civilians, who are in dire need for medical treatment abroad, and 10,000 cancer patients, who are threatened with death as a result of the Israeli siege and attacks on the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza City, where they receive treatment.
GMO warned that 350,000 patients with chronic health issues who need their medications and 60,000 pregnant women who need health care are also at risk.
GMO also highlighted the presence of 99 Gazan medical workers, including doctors, and 10 journalists in Israeli detention centers.
There are also 2,000,000 displaced Gazans living under dire humanitarian conditions in shelter centers, including schools, while 700,000 of them suffer from infectious diseases and 8,000 others from hepatitis, according to its report.
In a related context, the Palestinian health ministry said on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation army committed 16 massacres in different areas of the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours, killing at least 150 civilians and injuring over 313 others, while a large number of victims are still under the rubble of bombed buildings or lying on roads.
In a statement, the health ministry added that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli bombardments, which started on October 7, climbed to 26,900 martyrs and the number of the wounded surged to 65,949 people.
