GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) IThe Hamas Movement has expressed appreciation for the African Union Summit’s final statement, which strongly denounced Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Monday, Hamas lauded the African countries’ “courageous” stance as a continuation of its historic struggle against colonialism and oppression and their ongoing support for the values of freedom and justice, and the rights of peoples to self-determination.

Hamas affirmed that “this strong African position constitutes important support for the steadfastness of our Palestinian people and their resistance in the face of the occupation’s crimes.”

Hamas called Africa’s position a clear message to the international community, urging it to act decisively to curb Israel’s attacks and hold its leaders accountable for their crimes.

The Movement also urged African nations to take concrete steps by intensifying political and legal pressure on Israel and to intensify their support for the Palestinian cause at international conferences and events.

The 38th African Union Summit concluded Sunday in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, with African leaders reaffirming their firm and unified supportive stance on the Palestinian cause.

The summit, which brought together heads of state and government from across the continent, issued a final statement condemning Israel’s military atrocities in Gaza and calling for an end to all forms of cooperation and normalization with Israel.

In a strongly worded statement, African leaders vehemently condemned the brutal Israeli war on Gaza, denouncing what they described as systematic violations of international law, targeted attacks on civilians, and destruction of Palestinian homes and infrastructure.

The statement accused Israel of committing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people and emphasized the urgent need for taking international legal action against Israeli leaders for their persistence in committing violations and crimes against the Palestinian people.
