GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement said the Israeli war minister Yisrael Katz’s statements claiming that Hamas planned to attack Israeli occupation forces and settlements during the ceasefire are misleading and baseless, stressing that these allegations come in the context of the occupation’s attempts to evade its obligations stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.
Hamas added, in a statement on Thursday, that Katz’s statements on keeping the border area between Gaza and Egypt, known as the Salah al-Din (Philadelphi) axis, as a buffer zone is a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement, and an attempt to fabricate pretexts to disrupt and thwart the deal.
Hamas reiterated its full commitment to the ceasefire agreement, with all its details and provisions, and confirmed its readiness to start negotiations for the second phase of the agreement.
The Movement also stressed that the mediators and the international community as well as all relevant parties need to take immediate and serious action to compel the Israeli occupation authority to abide by the obligations and provisions of the agreement and exert efforts to prevent Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and his criminal government from disrupting and thwarting the agreement.
