GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has categorically denied any presence of resistance fighters or weapons at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
In a statement on Friday, Hamas affirmed that there was no military presence of any armed group from al-Qassam Brigades or other factions in the hospital, which was “open to everyone,” adding that international and UN organizations know the facility well.
“The enemy is lying about the hospital in order to justify the heinous crime that was committed by the occupation army today when it evacuated the hospital and burned all its premises as part of its genocide and forced displacement plan,” Hamas said.
“Such Israeli lies and deception are not new. Similar fabrications against hospitals, which were destroyed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip, have already been repeated [by the Israeli army], including against Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, although international reports and investigations have proved that such claims are untrue,” Hamas said.
Hamas called on the UN to condemn the Israeli army’s destruction of the Kamal Adwan Hospital and to delegate an inquiry committee to get a first-hand look at the Israeli crimes being committed in northern Gaza and to work on providing medical services for the Palestinians there.
Israeli troops stormed and set fire to one of the last hospitals operating in the northernmost part of Gaza on Friday, forcing many of the staff and patients out of the facility and kidnaping and killing others.
To justify its destruction of the hospital and its killing of patients and staff, the Israeli army claimed the hospital was used as a hideout by Palestinian gunmen. The army had made such claims against multiple hospitals across Gaza many times before.
