Hamas Appeals to Pakistan and Afghanistan to Prioritize Diplomacy Over Escalation

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Amid rising tension between the two neighboring Islamic countries, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called on Friday on both Pakistan and Afghanistan to exercise restraint, prioritize the language of dialogue and diplomacy, work to stop bloodshed, and spare the region further escalation.

In a related context, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif announced today, Friday, that his country has entered an “open war” with Afghanistan, considering that “Islamabad’s patience has run out” amid escalating tensions overnight, as both sides announced that they had suffered heavy losses.

Against the backdrop of these developments, relations between the two countries have deteriorated over recent months, with border crossings closed since the confrontations that erupted last October, which resulted in the killing of more than 70 people from both sides.

In a press statement, Hamas confirmed that what unites the two peoples, including a single creed, a shared religion, and deep historical ties, outweighs any transient disagreement, calling for overcoming the current state of tension through constructive dialogue.

The Movement also stressed the necessity of prioritizing the supreme interest of the nation, and undertaking serious efforts to mend the rift in a way that achieves peace and stability and preserves lives, affirming that the current phase requires the highest levels of wisdom and responsibility.

In this framework, the Movement considered that the nation is in greatest need of cohesion and unity, at a time when Israel is seeking to build new alliances and attempting to break its international isolation in the aftermath of the crimes of genocide committed against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas concluded by affirming that the duty of the current phase requires unifying the ranks, unifying the word, and strengthening the bonds of solidarity among Islamic countries and peoples.
