GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has affirmed that the Netanyahu government’s continued use of starvation as a weapon in the Gaza Strip constitutes a war crime, a contempt for the international community, and a challenge to international judicial institutions.
The Movement called for immediate pressure to be exerted on the occupation to end the systematic starvation policy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hamas said: “For the sixtieth consecutive day, the fascist occupation army continues its full blockade of Gaza, closing all entry points for essential life supplies, including food, water, medicine, and fuel. Famine intensifies as food stocks are depleted and systematically targeted by airstrikes as part of the ongoing, brutal genocide aimed at eradicating life in the Strip.”
The statement stressed that the Israeli government’s continued use of starvation against innocent civilians reflects blatant disregard for international values and humanitarian law and constitutes a direct challenge to international institutions, foremost among them the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which is currently holding hearings regarding Israel’s humanitarian obligations.
Hamas also highlighted statements by UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, who revealed that the occupation army used agency staff as human shields during arrests, further evidencing the rogue and criminal nature of the Israeli entity and its deliberate targeting of humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza.
The Movement urged all countries, as well as United Nations institutions—particularly the Security Council—to uphold the values of humanity and justice by pressing Israel to lift its siege on over 2.25 million people in Gaza and to end the systematic starvation being perpetrated in full view of the world.
Hamas renewed its call on Arab and Islamic nations, and all free people worldwide to urgently mobilize to aid the people of Gaza, and to act at all levels to demand the opening of crossings, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the support of Palestinian steadfastness.
Meanwhile, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) warned that every minute that passes without the enforcement of the International Court of Justice’s decisions results in more massacres and the escalation of the ongoing systematic genocide and starvation of the Palestinian people in Gaza, with daily documentation of these crimes in audio and visual evidence.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the PFLP said: “While the ICJ continues its sessions in The Hague to discuss Israel’s obligations towards the Palestinian people, bloodshed on the ground continues unabated, with dozens of martyrs daily, the destruction of medical facilities, and the obstruction of relief convoys reaching besieged civilians facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
The statement emphasized that the evidence of these crimes is clear and irrefutable, with testimonies of victims and deliberate destruction fully documented, leaving no room for doubt. It stressed the urgent need for immediate and binding steps to protect the Palestinian people and to halt the machinery of killing and destruction.
The PFLP also warned that persisting in treating these crimes through non-binding advisory decisions without real enforcement reflects international complicity and emboldens the continuation of the genocide. It reiterated the failure of the international system to protect the rights of peoples under occupation.
The group called for immediate international action to halt the genocide and lift the blockade on Gaza, alongside serious efforts to prosecute Israeli leaders at international courts, asserting that any delay in accountability constitutes tacit complicity in the crime.
The statement concluded that history would not forgive such deadly silence and that the Palestinian people will never forget those who left their children to face death by starvation and bombing while awaiting delayed resolutions and endless deliberations over crimes that have already been fully proven and documented.
