GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement on Friday called on mediators and guarantor states to exert urgent pressure on Israel to stop its continued attacks on the Gaza Strip, warning that ongoing bombardment and demolitions constitute a dangerous escalation and a clear breach of the ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, Hamas said that Israel’s continued shelling of multiple areas across Gaza, along with demolition operations in parts of the enclave, amounts to terrorism and reflects what it described as Israel’s blatant disregard for the ceasefire and its insistence on evading its obligations.
The group pointed to the latest Israeli strike east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza earlier on Friday, which killed two young men. It also cited a separate attack targeting a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the al-Mawasi area, which left several people wounded, including a pregnant woman.
Hamas renewed its call on mediators and countries sponsoring the ceasefire to assume their responsibilities, urging them to put an end to what it described as the “rampage” of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, prevent him from obstructing the agreement, and apply serious pressure to halt the repeated assaults on Palestinians.
The Movement also demanded an immediate transition to the second phase of the ceasefire, including the opening of the Rafah crossing in both directions and enabling the national committee to operate in Gaza, which, it said, has been devastated by the Israeli assault.
Two Palestinians were martyred and others wounded early Friday in an Israeli air strike on al-Maghazi refugee camp, as Israel continued to violate the ceasefire for the 112th consecutive day, according to local sources.
A PIC correspondent reported that Walid Hassan Darwish and Yasser Mohammad Abu Shahada were martyred when Israeli aircraft struck a gathering of civilians in the camp.
Earlier in the day, six Palestinians, including a pregnant woman, were injured when Israeli warplanes bombed a tent housing displaced people in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis.
