JENIN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has condemned the ongoing Palestinian Authority (PA) security campaign in Jenin refugee camp as a “full-fledged crime,” calling on the Palestinians in Jenin to continue their revolt to break the siege on the camp and protect the resistance fighters.
In a statement on Monday, Hamas said that the PA’s persistence in its security operation in Jenin camp, which started eight days ago, reflects that “it is turning a deaf ear to all the Palestinian voices calling for stopping it and protecting the resistance, which is the strong shield for our people, their land and their holy sites against the occupation and its settlers.”
Hamas urged the Palestinian people from all spectra to stage massive rallies to stand in the face of the PA security operation in Jenin, highlighting that this operation “only serves the occupation army and its desperate dreams of ending the resistance in the West Bank.”
For his part, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi has affirmed that “what the Israeli occupation and the PA security services are doing in the West Bank will not stop the resistance, but it will increase its determination to extract the Palestinian people’s rights and end the occupation.”
“The resistance operations in the West Bank will not stop despite the occupation’s aggression and the PA security campaign against resistance fighters in Jenin and other cities,” Mardawi said.
“The occupation will not provide its soldiers and settlers with security no matter how many tight security measures it will take,” Mardawi said, adding that the Palestinian people are “adherent to the option of resistance and steadfastness regardless of the sacrifices.”
The Hamas official described the PA security forces’ practices in Jenin as “reprehensible” and “unpatriotic,” calling on the PA political leadership to immediately stop its violations that only serve the occupation.
He called the Palestinian people and the national factions to take a strong stance on the events in Jenin and pressure the PA leadership to halt its security campaign in Jenin City and its refugee camp.
Amid fierce resistance from local fighters, the PA security forces have been carrying a violent and deadly raid in Jenin for over a week, claiming their campaign targets what they label as “criminals.”
