Katz’s proposal to hold forces in Gaza sparks Hamas backlash

In a statement on Tuesday, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said that Katz’s remarks expose the Israeli occupation government’s settlement plans and its intent to displace the Gaza population.

“Such remarks are completely at odds with the plan put forward by US president Donald Trump to establish peace in the region,” spokesman Qasem added.

Katz said on Tuesday that Israel would never fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip or from Syria, and vowed to establish new settlements in Gaza.
