GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has condemned Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent remarks suggesting the establishment of the Palestinian state on Saudi territory.
In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said that such remarks by Netanyahu reflect “his supremacist and colonialist mindset that ignores the historical rights of the indigenous owners of the land,” calling his remarks “hostile to Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian people.”
Hamas applauded the Saudi position that categorically rejected Netanyahu’s “irresponsible and impudent” remarks.
“We appreciate the Kingdom’s unwavering position against any plans aimed at displacing our Palestinian people and its continuous support for their just cause and their legitimate right to establish their independent state on their land,” the Movement said.
Netanyahu’s remarks, made during an interview on Thursday with Israel’s Channel 14, suggested that “Saudis can establish a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia; they have plenty of land there.”
The Saudi foreign ministry said in a statement that the kingdom rejects such statements that aim to divert attention from the “ongoing crimes” committed by Israel.
The Kingdom emphasized that the Palestinian people have a right to their land and that lasting peace can only be achieved by returning to the logic of reason and accepting the principle of peaceful coexistence through the two-state solution.
