CAIRO (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A Hamas leadership delegation headed by Mohammed Darwish, head of the Hamas Leadership Council, and other council members Khaled Mishaal, Khalil al-Hayya, Zahir Jabarin, and Nizar Awadallah arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo early Saturday morning.
Hamas said in a statement that the delegation began its meetings with Egyptian officials this morning to discuss Hamas’s vision for war cessation and prisoner exchange based on a comprehensive deal that includes full withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army and Gaza reconstruction.
The Movement added in its statement that its delegation tackled “the repercussions of the occupation’s starvation of our people in Gaza and the need for urgent action to allow access of humanitarian aid, especially food and medicine,” into the besieged enclave.
The delegation will also discuss efforts to form the Community Support Committee to administer the Gaza Strip, as well as some internal Palestinian issues and mechanisms to deal with them.
