DOHA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has denied any serious signs from mediators that the Israeli occupation government has shifted its stance toward agreeing on a ceasefire or completing a prisoner exchange deal concerning Gaza.
Taher al-Nunu, media advisor to Hamas’s political bureau chief, told Aljazeera Net that while communications with mediators continue, they remain in a preliminary “feeling out” phase.
He emphasized that no genuine political will from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has yet emerged to stop the war or end the ongoing aggression against Palestinians.
Al-Nunu stressed that Hamas will not accept any agreement that fails to clearly include four key demands:
- A comprehensive end to the war of extermination.
- A full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
- The commencement of reconstruction efforts.
- The lifting of the siege.
- A prisoner exchange deal.
“Without these conditions, any agreement is meaningless,” he asserted.
Responding to recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump about “good news” for Gaza, Al-Nunu said, “We are not satisfied with statements. We know that Trump and the US can pressure Netanyahu to stop the aggression, but what we need is serious, genuine actions—not words.”
Regarding the latest ceasefire proposal put forth by CIA Director William Burns, Al-Nunu said Hamas had communicated its position to mediators more than two weeks ago and dismissed Israeli modifications to the plan as meaningless.
