GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Taher Al-Nunu, the media advisor to the Hamas Political Bureau Chief, Ismail Haneyya, said on Sunday, that Haneyya’s visit to Turkey comes at a very critical time.
Holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes was among the topics discussed with the Turkish leadership, he pointed out.
“We do not seek to replace the valued Qatari-Egyptian mediation with Turkish mediation, and the visit is not related to this matter,” the Hamas official further added.
Al-Nunu also said that the Israeli occupation still refuses a comprehensive ceasefire and the return of the displaced people, which does not lead to any agreement.
“The influential figures in the Israeli government are not serious about reaching an agreement to end the war on Gaza,” he pointed out, adding, “Israel’s only achievement is targeting civilians and destroying infrastructure, and it has not achieved any of its goals.”
Earlier Saturday, Haneyya and a delegation from the Movement’s leadership, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara to discuss the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, and the efforts made to reach a ceasefire.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the necessity of providing continuous humanitarian aid to the people in the Gaza Strip, as well as Turkish diplomatic efforts to support the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of the genocide being waged against the Palestinian people in the Strip.
