Hamas holds consultations with faction leaders on Gaza ceasefire proposal

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement announced late last night that it is conducting consultations with leaders of Palestinian factions regarding a ceasefire proposal it received from mediators concerning the situation in the Gaza Strip.

In a brief statement, Hamas said it would deliver a final decision after concluding the consultations and would announce it officially.

The Movement affirmed that its engagement with the proposal stems from its commitment to ending the Israeli aggression on Gaza and ensuring the free entry of humanitarian aid.

According to leaked information, the US-backed proposal includes a 60-day ceasefire, with guarantees from US President Donald Trump to ensure its duration is maintained.

The document outlines a timetable for the release of 10 living Israeli captives and the return of 18 bodies, as follows:

Day 1: Release of 8 living captives

Day 7: Return of 5 bodies

Day 30: Return of 5 bodies

Day 50: Release of 2 living captives

Day 60: Return of 8 bodies

The captives’ release is to be carried out without ceremonies or public displays.

The proposal also stipulates the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza in line with the January 19 agreement, and in sufficient quantities, with participation from the United Nations and the Red Crescent.

After the release of the 8 captives, the Israeli army is to withdraw from areas in northern Gaza, based on maps agreed upon by the parties. A further withdrawal from areas in southern Gaza is to take place on the seventh day, also according to agreed-upon maps.

Technical teams will work on defining the withdrawal boundaries through expedited negotiations once the general framework of the agreement is accepted.

Talks on a Permanent Ceasefire

Upon implementation of the agreement, negotiations will begin on a permanent ceasefire, focusing on four main points:

Exchange of remaining captives

Long-term security arrangements in Gaza

“Day after” governance and reconstruction plans

Official declaration of a permanent ceasefire

On the tenth day of the ceasefire, Hamas is expected to provide comprehensive information and evidence regarding the status of remaining captives, whether alive or deceased, along with medical reports. In return, Israel will present complete details on Palestinian detainees arrested from Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The proposal includes assurances of Trump’s commitment to the agreement, emphasizing that if the negotiations succeed during the truce period, it would lead to a permanent end to the Israeli aggression.
