GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has described the military counterattack that was carried out last night by Iran against the Israeli occupation state as a “natural right” and a “justified response to the crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus and assassinating several Revolutionary Guard leaders.”
In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said that every country and nation has the right to defend itself against Israeli attacks.
Hamas urged the Arab and Muslim peoples, the world’s free people, and the region’s resistance groups to continue their support for the Al-Aqsa Flood battle and the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, independence, and the establishment of their Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles against Israel on Saturday night, in an unprecedented counterattack that came in response to a Israeli deadly raid on the Iranian consulate in Syria two weeks ago.
The Israeli occupation army said on Sunday the Iranian salvo consisted of more than 300 “killer drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles,” but that 99 percent were intercepted with help from France, Britain, and the US.
The Israeli army claimed the launches came from Iran, Iraq, and Yemen, and set off air raid sirens in cities across Israel, including Tel Aviv.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the attack, saying it launched the drones and missiles under Operation “True Promise” as part of the punishment for “the Zionist entity’s crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Syria” on April 1.
The raid in Damascus killed 13 people, including two senior generals in the IRGC’s elite Quds Force.
