Hamas: Israeli raids, demolitions will not deter Jerusalemites from protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The head of Jerusalem Affairs Office and the member of Hamas Political Bureau, Haroun Nasser al-Din, stressed that the Israeli raids, demolitions and abuse of Jerusalemites will not deter them from protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque and confronting the Israeli occupation’s plans to Judaize Jerusalem and take control over the Mosque.

In a press statement on Thursday, Nasser al-Din pointed out that recent demolitions in the town of Jaba in Jerusalem are a continuation of the occupation’s malicious intention against the city’s neighborhoods, aiming at emptying them of their indigenous inhabitants and replacing them with settlers.

The Hamas official stressed that the continuous pressure on Jerusalemites through deportation decisions, in addition to repetitive arrests, will not succeed in dissuading them from their role in defending the Holy City and confronting fierce attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Our people will remain attached to their land and Mosque, will continue the path of resistance and will persist in confronting with the occupation government and extremist Zionist groups, regardless of the challenges,” he added.

Nasser al-Din called on the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and the 1948 occupied Palestine, and those who can from the occupied West Bank, to continue to mobilize and stay at Al-Aqsa Mosque after Ramadan, urging them not to leave it undefended before Israeli attacks of settlers and the alleged Temple Mount groups.

Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem under heavy guard.

Ben-Gvir’s intention to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque was not previously announced. It came a few days before the Jewish Passover holiday, which begins on April 12 and lasts for 10 days.

This is the fifth time that Ben-Gvir has stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, and the eighth time since he assumed his position as minister at the end of 2022.

Palestinians consider these measures part of the occupation’s attempts to Judaize eastern Jerusalem, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, to obliterate its Arab and Islamic identity.
