GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has slammed the Israeli offensive on the Tal as-Sultan neighborhood, the Saudi neighborhood and the al-Baraksat area in southern Gaza’s Rafah, stressing that Israel’s actions “constitute war crimes and a flagrant violation of international law.”
The Movement said in a statement on Telegram on Sunday that the Israeli military kept 50,000 civilians under siege in Rafah.
The Israeli military said earlier that troops surrounded Rafah’s Tal as-Sultan neighborhood after demanding that Palestinian civilians flee the area.
Hamas said Israel’s attacks on al-Mawasi in the west of Khan Yunis also continued. Al-Mawasi is considered a safe zone by the Israeli military, but regular Israeli attacks are reported in the neighborhood.
The Movement stressed that in all of these areas, the Israeli military has been targeting medical facilities and personnel in addition to civilians.
“This is part of the systematic policy of genocide targeting our people in the Gaza Strip, in flagrant violation of all international conventions, norms, and laws, most notably international humanitarian law.”
“The Israeli occupation is committing more crimes and massacres against innocent civilians,” it said, adding that “a number of martyrs and wounded cannot be reached or rescued due to the ongoing siege and brutal bombardment.”
Hamas called on the Arab countries, the United Nations, and the free world to take immediate and serious action to stop “this horrific crime.”
Hamas also demanded “an end to the ongoing Israeli genocidal war against our Palestinian people around the clock.”
