TUNIS (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has mourned the death of Fares Al-Khaled, a 21-year-old Tunisian youth who passed away on Monday after attempting to raise the Palestinian flag atop a building at the Higher School of Sciences and Technologies of Design in Manouba Governorate, northern Tunisia.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Hamas described Al-Khaled’s act as a “heroic, brave, and honorable gesture — a message filled with dignity, loyalty, support, and solidarity with our people and their just cause.”
The statement added:
“Fares Al-Khaled, the martyr of the Palestinian flag, has ascended to eternity, engraving his name in the record of heroes who carried the banner of Palestine with their bodies and souls. He proved that defending Gaza, Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa is a duty for all the free people of the world — an open path for anyone to reject aggression and stand up for the dignity and pride of the Ummah, and to confront the machinery of death and destruction with courage.”
Hamas extended its condolences to Al-Khaled’s family, affirming that “the flag of Palestine will remain high, and the blood of our youth will continue to inspire our people and our nation to follow the path of liberation and return.”
