Hamas officials hold talks with Turkish intelligence on Gaza ceasefire breaches

GAZA, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)

A senior delegation from the Hamas leadership, headed by Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, met on Wednesday with Turkish Intelligence Chief İbrahim Kalın to discuss recent developments regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).

During the meeting, held in Istanbul, the two sides reviewed the political situation and the repeated Israeli breaches of the ceasefire, including continued airstrikes and gunfire in areas under IOF control, the closure of all border crossings, most notably Rafah, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid and medical supplies. They also discussed the urgent need for reconstruction, including the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure such as sewage systems, roads, and power networks.

Dr. al-Hayya expressed Hamas’s appreciation for Türkiye’s role in mediating the ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of Ankara’s continued support for the Palestinian people in their struggle against the occupation across all parts of occupied Palestine, particularly in Gaza.

He briefed the Turkish official on the outcome of the recent Palestinian factions’ meetings held in Cairo, where the factions reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the ceasefire terms, specifically, the withdrawal of IOF from the Gaza Strip, the full reopening of border crossings, the initiation of early recovery efforts, and the beginning of a comprehensive reconstruction phase. He also mentioned the plan to entrust Gaza’s administration to an independent Palestinian committee.

Al-Hayya stressed the urgent need for mediators and international actors to exert real pressure to stop the Israeli regime’s horrific abuses of Palestinian detainees held in its prisons.
