DOHA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Ezzat Al-Resheq, member of the Hamas political bureau, has condemned Germany’s intention to intervene as a third party in support of Israel in the genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) brought by South Africa, as Israel’s war on Gaza entered its 100th day.
Such a decision “makes it a partner in and bears moral, humanitarian, and legal responsibility for these crimes against Palestinian civilians, children, and women.”
Resheq expressed his Movement’s strong rejection and condemnation of Germany’s position in support of “the Israeli genocide war, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement against our people in the Gaza Strip.”
Germany will not atone for its historical Nazi crimes while supporting a new Holocaust and genocide in Gaza, he said.
Germany is making a grave sin that will remain a disgrace in its history, he added.
Resheq called on Germany to withdraw its decision and to stop all forms of support for Israeli aggression and crimes.
A two-day public hearing in the case at the World Court, the highest legal body of the United Nations, took place on Thursday and Friday, during which South Africa and Israel presented their arguments.
Several countries and international organizations have backed South Africa in its case, while Israel has received the backing of the United States, its main weapons supplier and close ally.
The ICJ is likely to present a provisional measure in the coming days.
