RAMALLAH (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced the Israeli re-detention of 17-year-old Youssef al-Khatib, who was released as part of the prisoners exchange deal that took place two months ago following mediation efforts by Qatar and Egypt.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Hamas Movement called on the Qatari and Egyptian mediators to intervene to have al-Khatib released and pressure the Israeli occupation regime to abide by November’s swap deal.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society said that the Israeli intelligence re-detained Youssef al-Khatib, a teenager from Jericho City, after summoning him for interrogation.
This is the first arrest of a Palestinian freed in November’s prisoner swap deal.
Al-Khatib had been serving a six-month administrative detention order issued against him by an Israeli military court before his release as part of the swap deal last November.
