GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement strongly condemned the racist statements made by the Israeli extremist minister Bezalel Smotrich, in which he called for the expansion and normalization of settlements in the occupied West Bank, dubbing it a desperate attempt to change the status quo in the West bank and perpetuate the colonial occupation of the Palestinian land.
Hamas said in a statement on Sunday, “These statements reaffirm that settlement, in all its forms, is a racist, colonialist project aimed at displacing our people, stealing their land and holy sites, and imposing an abhorrent apartheid system, in flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws and conventions.”
The Movement emphasized that the Palestinian people and their resistance in the occupied West Bank will foil all the occupation’s plans to consolidate settlements, and will continue to confront these aggressive projects, regardless of the sacrifices.
It called on the Arab and Islamic nations and the free people of the world to “assume their responsibilities in confronting this settlement encroachment, and to end the international silence towards the daily crimes committed by the occupation against our people, our land and our holy sites”.
