DOHA(Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement condemned on Friday the Israeli killing of the Palestinian journalists Tamim Muammar and Abdullah al-Sousi, along with a number of their family members, in two airstrikes in Khan Yunis.
“This is a new crime added to the long series of crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinian journalists,” the Movement said in a statement.
“The occupation aims to silence the voice of the free press and prevent it from performing its professional and humanitarian duty in covering its genocide crime and ethnic cleansing that have been ongoing for more than ten months against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” it said.
The Movement pointed out that the Israeli occupation killed about 166 journalists prior to today’s crime of killing the two journalists Muammar and al-Sousi.
Hamas called on the international community, the United Nations and its institutions to “take effective action to compel the criminal occupation to stop its deliberate targeting of journalists, and to take measures to hold its fascist leaders accountable for their ongoing crimes.”
Earlier Friday, Israeli warplanes targeted the homes of journalists Tamim Muammar and Abdullah Al-Sousi in two separate airstrikes in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, killing both of them along with a number of their children and relatives.
This brings the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 7 to at least 167, according to figures by the Government Media Office in Gaza.
