Hamas warns against ongoing psychological warfare

GAZA  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement has called on journalists, activists, and the Palestinian people—both in the homeland and in the diaspora—to confront disinformation campaigns and actively participate in a broad media effort in support of Palestinians and the resistance.

In an official statement, Hamas affirmed that the Israeli occupation continues to escalate its killing, destruction, siege, and starvation policies.

At the same time, it is waging an intense media and psychological war aimed at breaking the will of the Palestinian people, the Movement added.

The Movement further noted that the occupation is deliberately spreading rumors, promoting falsehoods, and distributing misleading leaflets, targeting voices that support the resistance and seek to defend Palestinian rights. Hamas warned that Israel is using all of its media tools, platforms, and propaganda arms in this campaign.

Hamas further stated that these efforts often align with rhetoric and campaigns from parties that echo the occupation’s narrative and attack the legitimacy of the resistance, ultimately serving the goals of the occupying power.

Despite the ongoing psychological pressure and misinformation, Hamas asserted that the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their national rights, stressing that such incitement campaigns will not succeed in undermining their determination or commitment to resistance.

Israel resumed its relentless bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after refusing to advance to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, drawing widespread international condemnation.

The first phase of the ceasefire, under which Israeli captives held by Hamas were exchanged for Palestinian prisoners, expired earlier this month. Since then, Israel has refused to advance to the second phase, instead imposing preconditions, restricting humanitarian aid, and stalling negotiations to avoid discussions on a full military withdrawal and a lasting end to its war on Gaza.

Hamas had sought to uphold the terms of the initial deal, which outlined a phased captive-prisoner exchange followed by negotiations for a permanent truce.

However, Israel has blocked progress toward the second phase and instead renewed its assault on Tuesday, refusing to commit to its implementation despite the agreement being signed by Tel Aviv.

Hamas has said it remains open to talks but insists no new agreements are necessary.

At least 591 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,042 injured in Gaza since Israel resumed its war, Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Thursday, adding that 70 percent of the casualties were women and children.
