GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for the Hamas Movement, said that statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the formation of a new regional axis that includes Arab countries represent a “blatant disregard” for Arab states and a direct threat to their interests.
In a statement posted on Sunday, Qassem stressed that Netanyahu’s remarks about a new regional alliance involving Arab countries reflect a disregard for the significant role of Arab states in the region and pose a real threat to their strategic interests.
He added that this entity (Israel), which he described as foreign to the region and its history, seeks to lead regional alliances with support from the United States in order to advance its own interests, interests that inherently conflict with those of the Arab countries.
Qassem also noted that such proposals are based on “the weakness of the Arab positions throughout the war on Gaza,” emphasizing that any regional arrangements that ignore Palestinian rights will not contribute to stability in the region.
