GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Hamas Movement welcomed the United Nations Human Rights Council’s resolution to urge arms embargo on the Israeli occupation.
“We view the resolution as an important step toward exerting pressure on the (Israeli) occupation to halt its heinous and destructive war against Gaza Strip civilians,” it said.
The Movement demanded that the United Nations and the international community take decisive action to force nations and businesses that provide weaponry to the “terrorist occupation entity” to immediately abide by this decision.
Additionally, it demanded that these nations—led by the United States—abandon their military and political backing of the fascist occupation and its criminal army and to sever all ties to the all-out destruction campaign that it is waging against the helpless Palestinian people.
Earlier Friday, the UN’s top human rights body adopted a resolution condemning the “use of starvation of civilians as a method of warfare in Gaza”, while also calling for an arms embargo on Israel.
