Hamdan: We will not allow the ceasefire talks to go on indefinitely

BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center)  Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said on Tuesday that his Movement would not allow the trajectory of the ceasefire talks to go on indefinitely and without a horizon while the Israeli occupation regime persists in its aggression and starvation war against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Addressing a news conference in Beirut, Hamdan said that the Hamas leadership had submitted during the past two days its position on the proposal made by Qatar and Egypt, stressing the Movement’s conditions for a ceasefire, including a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the return of the displaced citizens to their areas, especially to the north, the delivery of adequate humanitarian aid, and reconstruction.

Hamdan said that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu continues to evade his responsibilities and act evasively towards his people for personal political calculations, which unveils his fears about his political future and the post-war period.

Hamdan highlighted the tragic living conditions of the Palestinian citizens across the Gaza Strip, saying that “disease, hunger and thirst are now claiming the lives of thousands of our people in the Gaza Strip daily, especially among children, women, and the elderly, while all hospitals are out of service, and sufficient relief and medical supplies fail to reach citizens.”

The Hamas official stressed that what the Israeli occupation and the US administration failed to impose on the resistance on the battlefield will not be taken through political machinations, regardless of any forms of trickery and pressure they employ.
