DOHA, (The Palestine Information Centre)Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has offered his condolences over the passing of Dr. Soberi Awang, deputy head of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Malaysia, who passed away while giving a lecture at a local mosque.
According to a brief statement issued by Haneyya’s office, the Hamas leader talked over the phone with Dr. Awang’s wife, who is a staunch supporter of the Palestinian people and expressed his heartfelt condolences over her loss.
During the phone call, Haneyya recalled Dr. Awang’s great contributions to the Palestinian people and their national cause.
The Hamas leader described Dr. Awang as a “great Islamic figure” and his passing as a “sad loss for everyone,” asking Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy upon him and make Paradise his eternal dwelling.
