GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has warned that Gaza’s humanitarian crisis deepens amid the current polar storm and freezing temperatures.
“The continued loss of lives, from Israeli bombardment, freezing cold, and collapse of war-ravaged buildings, reflects the scale of the catastrophe resulting from the Israeli restrictions on aid and vital shelter supplies,” Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday.
Hamas said the death of five Palestinians in recent hours as a result of the collapse of structures in Gaza reveals a deepening humanitarian disaster directly linked to the Israeli refusal to allow in makeshift shelters, tents, heating supplies, and essential rubble‑clearing equipment.
“This Israeli policy turns unstable structures into a constant danger threatening the lives of civilians,” Hamas affirmed.
The Movement said that strong winds from the storm ripped apart displaced families’ tents, leaving thousands homeless, warning of more casualties in the coming hours unless urgent aid flows immediately and the blockade on relief and shelter materials ends.
The Movement slammed the international community for its failure to protect the civilians in Gaza and put an end to the ongoing crimes being committed against them.
For his part, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said that “the growing number of fatalities from cold among children and elderly people, the collapse of war-damaged homes, and the spread of disease confirm that the Gaza Strip continues to face the most brutal forms of genocide.”
“It is unfortunate that the entire international community remains unable to provide relief for the people of Gaza despite repeated appeals,” spokesman Qasem added on Tuesday.
The spokesman called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the international community to take urgent action to break the blockade on Gaza and prevent the right‑wing Israeli government from persisting in its genocide.
