BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement condemned the “terrorist attack” and the “brutal” airstrikes carried out by Israeli forces on multiple areas in Beirut and across Lebanon on Wednesday evening.
The strikes targeted densely populated residential neighborhoods and civilian facilities, resulting in hundreds of casualties.
In a press statement, the Movement stressed that the Israeli bombardment represents a “clear expression of the aggressive nature of the Israeli occupation and its leadership,” arguing that they are attempting to restore deterrence through committing massacres and targeting civilians in their homes and communities.
Hamas emphasized that the crimes committed against civilians in Lebanon, Gaza, and across the region reflect the fragility of the “Israeli entity and the falsehood of its legitimacy”, pointing to behavior that stands outside basic human values.
The statement added that Israel continues to repeatedly disregard international law and the laws of war, posing a threat to regional and global peace and security. It called on the international community to take a firm stance to hold Israel accountable and prevent it from acting with impunity.
The Movement also urged Arab and Islamic nations to unite and coordinate efforts to confront the occupation by all means until it comes to an end and to protect the region from an Israeli colonial project.
Lebanese medical sources reported that the heavy bombardment resulted in the deaths of more than 180 civilians, along with hundreds of injured, while hospitals have been overwhelmed with casualties.
