Intense Israeli Airstrikes Hit Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions

BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli occupation forces launched multiple airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday evening, following a warning to evacuate four villages in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

A Lebanese source reported that Israel carried out four strikes on towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, including the village of Anan in the Jezzine district of southern Lebanon and the towns of Ain al-Tineh and al-Manara in eastern Lebanon’s Beqaa region.

The Israeli military claimed that it had begun targeting Hamas and Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.

Earlier on Monday, an Israeli army spokesperson issued evacuation orders for four villages in southern and eastern Lebanon.

A senior source in the Hamas Movement called on the guarantor states of the Gaza ceasefire to take responsibility for Israel’s repeated violations and aggressions.

In a press statement to Al Jazeera, the source emphasized that the ongoing Israeli attempts to “impose new rules of engagement on its own terms will not succeed.”

The source added that Israel was fabricating false pretexts to justify its repeated aggression against the Palestinian people in both Gaza and Lebanon.

He stressed that the Israeli claims about the presence of resistance infrastructure in Lebanon were nothing but flimsy excuses to justify its attacks.

Israel and Lebanon reached a US-brokered ceasefire agreement in 2024 to end over a year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. Since then, Israel has been conducting daily airstrikes in violation of that agreement.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue to breach the ceasefire in Gaza that took effect on October 10, 2025, resulting in the killing of over 422 civilians and injuring more than 1,180 others.
