One person was killed and several Lebanese civilians were injured on Thursday evening following a series of intense Israeli airstrikes on various areas in southern Lebanon. The attacks came shortly after the Israeli army issued public threats indicating an intention to target those areas.
The Israeli Air Force launched a strike on the southern town of Taybeh, followed by similar bombings on the towns of Aita al-Shaab and Tair Debba in the south.
Lebanese media reported that ambulances rushed to the targeted sites in Taybeh, Tair Debba, and Aita al-Shaab to rescue the wounded and transport them to nearby hospitals. The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed one martyr and eight injuries.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli army had threatened several southern villages, claiming the presence of “Hezbollah infrastructure” in the targeted areas.
An Israeli military spokesperson said that the army forces “will soon target Hezbollah military infrastructure across southern Lebanon as part of its response to the group’s renewed activities in the area.”
The Israeli military also published a map highlighting buildings marked in red in Taybeh and Tair Debba and called on residents and nearby communities to evacuate immediately.
The spokesperson claimed that residents “are located near buildings used by Hezbollah and must keep a distance of at least 500 meters,” warning that “remaining in those areas puts their lives in danger.”
Earlier Thursday, one person was killed and two others injured in a series of Israeli air raids targeting areas in southern Lebanon, accompanied by intense aerial activity over Beirut and eastern regions.
Southern Lebanon has witnessed an increasing escalation in recent weeks, with the Israeli military conducting near-daily airstrikes inside Lebanese territory despite an active ceasefire agreement.
This escalation comes as the United States pressures the Lebanese government to implement measures aimed at disarming Hezbollah.
Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah through repeated airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanese areas, claiming to target weapons depots, infrastructure, and Hezbollah sites, while still occupying five hilltops seized during the last war.
The Israeli aggression on Lebanon began in October 2023 and escalated in September 2024 into a full-scale war that killed more than 4,000 people and injured approximately 17,000 others, until a ceasefire agreement was reached in November 2024.
