International Action Needed to Open Gaza Aid Routes, Says Hurriya

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hurriya Coalition, a consortium of rights organizations, has issued an urgent appeal to the international community and the UN to put an end to the ongoing genocide being committed by Israel against more than two million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.

In its statement on Friday, Hurriya called for the opening of permanent and safe humanitarian corridors under the supervision of the UN and its agencies, especially UNRWA, to ensure the delivery of food and medicine to all citizens without any restrictions.

Hurriya urged the UN and countries’ foreign ministers to pressure the Israeli government and its partners to end the siege imposed on Gaza’s civilians.

Hurriya also warned against politicizing the opening of crossings and demanded an end to Israeli control over humanitarian and relief aid entering Gaza.

Hurriya said that it had documented a noticeable rise in mortality rates resulting from malnutrition, lack of healthcare, and denial of travel abroad for treatment in Gaza, describing the situation as a “humanitarian catastrophe in every sense of the word.”

“Israel is using food and medicine as weapons of war to achieve the total or partial destruction of Palestinians, inflicting physical and psychological harm on over two million civilians in Gaza and imposing inhumane living conditions — actions that amount to genocide under international law,” Hurriya added.
