GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has announced a worsening digital blackout in the Gaza Strip, resulting from the Israeli deliberate targeting of communications infrastructure, despite numerous previous attempts to repair long-damaged and alternative routes.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Authority confirmed that the central and southern governorates of Gaza have now joined Gaza City and the northern areas in suffering complete digital isolation for the second consecutive day, due to the ongoing targeting of critical telecommunications networks and main service routes.
The statement warned that this serious escalation threatens to disconnect the Gaza Strip entirely from the outside world, preventing civilians from accessing essential services—vital under current conditions—including relief, healthcare, media, and education.
The Authority cautioned of the severe humanitarian and social consequences of this blackout and called on all relevant local and international bodies to urgently intervene to facilitate the necessary arrangements that would allow technical teams safe access to outage locations and carry out the required repairs.
It noted that Israeli occupation forces continue to block technical crews from repairing the cables that were cut yesterday and are obstructing access to alternative emergency routes.
The Authority emphasized that there have been ongoing efforts for months and weeks to fix and maintain alternative routes, but these attempts have consistently been met with refusals by the Israeli side. With the outage continuing, the statement stressed, the communications crisis deepens and prolongs the enforced isolation imposed on Gaza.
