OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)
The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) informed, on Wednesday, four Jerusalemite families in Aqabat al‑Khalidiya district in the Old City of Jerusalem of its intent to demolish their homes, under the pretext that they are “unfit for human habitation.”
The demolition notices target homes belonging to the families of Hashima, Masouda, Kastero, and Seidawi families, who were shocked by the decision despite having lived there for nearly 60 years.
“The families accused the Israeli municipality of persistently denying permits for the renovation and maintenance of old homes and buildings in the Old City, affirming that this intentional neglect hastens the decay of Palestinian real estate and is later presented as a justification for demolition.
The families warned that this measure, if implemented, would displace dozens of their relatives, describing it as a “new threat to the Palestinian presence in the Old City.”
They said they would pursue legal action through their lawyers to have the demolition orders revoked.
