JENIN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli Occupation Authority (IOA) decided on Wednesday to release the wounded prisoner Wafaa Jarrar, 49, two days after an administrative detention order was issued against her.
Her son, Hudhayfah Jarrar, said that Israel is trying to evade responsibility for his mother’s injury and treatment by transferring her to West Bank hospitals, noting that she underwent on Monday the amputation of both of her legs, adding that she has been suffering as well from an injury in the spine, which has not been diagnosed yet.
Last Monday, the IOA issued a four-month detention order against the captive Jarrar, despite her critical health condition, especially after the amputation.
Jarrar was arrested and injured on May 21, in the recent Israeli military operation in Jenin and its camp.
Jarrar is a social and political activist who launched the gathering of martyrs’ mothers in Jenin before they expanded to include other districts in the West Bank, and the wife of the Hamas official Abdul Jabbar Jarrar, who is administratively detained in Israeli jails. She was also a candidate for the Palestinian Legislative Council’s elections scheduled in 2021.
