GAZA, (The Palestine Information Centre)The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) released three Palestinian fishermen out of five who were arrested on Monday morning off the northern Gaza shores.
The fishermen’s committees affirmed in a press statement that the IOA released the fishermen, Muhammad Saeed Al-Saidi, Salim and Hassan Jamal Al-Numan, via the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.
However, the fishermen Muhammad Jamal al-Nu’man and Wahid al-Sayed Keskin were kept in detention.
Earlier on Monday, Israeli naval forces arrested five fishermen off the northern Gaza shores after surrounding their fishing boat.
Palestinian fishermen often suffer from multiple Israeli violations, including attempting to sink their boats in the sea, firing at them, and narrowing the fishing area for long periods.
The practice has in effect destroyed much of the fishing sector of the blockaded coastal enclave.
