TULKAREM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have been waging an aggression on Tulkarem city and Tulkarem refugee camp for the 47th consecutive day, and on Nur Shams refugee camp for the 34th day on Friday, amid heavy reinforcements, raiding civilians’ homes and forcing their residents to leave.
The ongoing aggression on the city and its two camps resulted in the martyrdom of 13 citizens, including a child and two women, one of whom is an eight-month pregnant woman.
Dozens were injured and arrested, while the IOF forcibly displaced more than 12,000 people from Nur Shams camp in addition to the same number from Tulkarem camp.
The military aggression left widespread destruction of infrastructure, houses and shops, which were completely and partially demolished, burned, vandalized, looted and stolen.
Local sources reported that the IOF sent military reinforcements to the city and its two camps, and deployed infantry groups in the neighborhoods of Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps and their surroundings.
This was accompanied by intensive firing of live bullets and stun grenades, as explosions were heard in conjunction with intensive flying of reconnaissance aircraft.
The IOF, with its heavy vehicles and bulldozers, reinforced its military presence in front of the houses they seized on Nablus Street, which connects Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, turned them into military barracks, and set up makeshift checkpoints and blocked the movement of citizens.
Meanwhile, the IOF stormed the eastern area of the employees’ housing in the Iktaba neighborhood opposite Nur Shams camp, and raided a number of houses, detained the residents and subjected them to field interrogation.
The IOF reportedly launched a large-scale raid on Palestinian homes in Nur Shams camp and its surroundings, specifically Jabal al-Nasr and Al-Mahjar neighborhoods, and forced their residents to leave their homes shortly before the Iftar time, amid heavy gunfire and flares to terrorize the residents.
IOF soldiers, deployed in the alleys of Tulkarem camp, opened heavy gunfire and targeted citizens as they went to inspect their homes in the camp.
