IOF demolishes house of Palestinian martyr northwest of Jenin

JENIN(Palestine Foundation Information Center)Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished at dawn Friday a Palestinian house in the village of Rummana, northwest of Jenin in the West Bank. The house was knocked down after IOF soldiers escorted by military vehicles and bulldozers broke into the village amid a total blockade and fierce clashes.

Local sources reported that the demolition targeted the home of the family of the martyr Kamel Mahmoud Abu Bakr, 26, whose body has been held by Israeli authorities since last August when he was shot dead by the IOF after carrying out a shooting operation in Tel Aviv resulting in the injury of three Israeli settlers.

Mahmoud Abu Bakr, the slain Palestinian youth’s father, said that he was not informed about the demolition and was surprised by the Israeli military raid of the village and the demolition of his two-story house (360 square meters), resulting in the displacement of his family of six.

According to the sources, an Israeli army unit involving over 30 military vehicles including jeeps and bulldozers tightly surrounded the village, closed its entrances, raided several homes, and converted them into military observation posts before proceeding with the demolition of the house. As a result, fierce clashes erupted between IOF soldiers and the residents of the village.

In a subsequent development, the IOF physically assaulted and abused several civilians after raiding their homes in the village. Later on, they were transferred to Jenin Hospital for treatment.
